SAKTI SIKHA DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY

Who we are

Sakti Sikha

  • Development Society (SDS) is a non-political, non-profit, humanitarian organization established in 1996 with a deep commitment to inclusive and sustainable community development. Since its inception, SDS has been working tirelessly to uplift marginalized, vulnerable, and underprivileged communities by promoting equitable growth, strengthening local capacities, and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.

  • The organization firmly believes that real development is achieved when communities actively participate in shaping their own futures. Guided by this belief, SDS facilitates a broad spectrum of livelihood initiatives aimed at the poorest of the poor – promoting self-reliance, resilience, and social justice. Its interventions focus on areas such as sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, women’s empowerment, education, health, climate resilience, and good governance.

  • Sakti Sikha is managed by a dedicated team of independent development professionals who bring practical, technical, and field-based experience from various sectors of community development and humanitarian work. Their combined expertise enables the organization to design and implement innovative, need-based projects that directly address the challenges faced by rural and tribal populations.

  • Over the years, SDS has built strong partnerships with government departments, development agencies, and grassroots institutions to ensure effective implementation and long- term sustainability of its initiatives. The organization emphasizes participatory planning, capacity building, and the promotion of local leadership, ensuring that communities are not just beneficiaries but active stakeholders in their development journey.

  • At its core, Sakti Sikha is committed to creating positive, measurable change in the lives of the most vulnerable populations. By improving access to livelihood opportunities, social services, and decision-making platforms, SDS empowers individuals and communities to take charge of their social, economic, and environmental well-being.

  • Sakti Sikha continues to work with a vision of building a just, equitable, and self-sustaining society where every individual—especially from the weaker and marginalized sections—can live with dignity, security, and opportunity.
